At the centre of the stage two blindfolded men face each other, and after a few moments, begin to slap themselves rhythmically. It is the beginning of a thrilling blind date sui generis which continues in crescendo, the tale of an intimate relationship through a physical and rhythmical dialogue between the bodies of the two protagonists (Lander Patrick and Jonas Lopes), who attract and repel each other through beatings and caresses, hugs and childish games. The choreographical notes tells us “This is not a love story” paraphrasing the words of Magritte “Ceci n’est pas une pipe”, “This is not a pipe”: the audience participates in the construction of a love story through that which denies it. The Brazilian born Portuguese Lander Patrick has created a choreography built upon the fragile thread of non-visual and non-verbal communication, almost telepathic, where a single gesture or wrong move means they will lose each other. And the audience immediately becomes witness and accomplice to this virtuous and hilarious tour-de-force, right up until the unexpected and amazing finale.
Lander Patrick, born in 1989, won first prize at the Koreografskih Minijatura Festival (Serbia) with Noodles Never Break When Boiled and second place at No Ballet International Choreography Competition (Germany) with Cascas d’OvO. He has performed his shows in Portugal, Austria, USA, Germany, Brazil, Holland, Serbia and Italy.
Jonas Lopes, born in 1986, is an actor, dancer, singer and writer. He has co-written several shows with Lander Patrick.
The show contains male nudity. Due to the use of strobe lighting, the show is not recommended for people with epilepsy and photosensitivity.
