Drag – storia di una sottocultura
Eleonora Santamaria’s book presentation and conversation with Miss Pingy
Ironic, fierce and irreverent: Drag Queens embody a cultural phenomenon that is often misunderstood and contested. In her new essay, published by Edizioni dell’asino, Eleonora Santamaria gives a feedback to drag culture, by evoking the richness and depth of this complex and multifaceted universe. Whether we talk about the art and glamour of their disguises and pop culture, or gender issues and political protests, this subculture has been able to overturn traditional conventions through performance, showing us the freedom to be whoever we want on the stage and in real life. Being a complex reality, drag culture offers an articulated point of view on reality.
Eleonora Santamaria was born in Salerno, 1993.
