FASSBINDER – TO LOVE WITHOUT DEMANDS (Fassbinder – Lieben ohne zu fordern)
In his works he addressed issues of racism, marginalization, homosexuality and violence both in society and loving relationships. In 14 years he wrote and directed 60 films for cinema and television, as well as working as a playwright and theatre actor, before he died in 1982, just 37 years old. This documentary, by his friend and director Christian Braad Thomsen, reconstructs Fassbinder’s character through unpublished material (including a touching and intimate interview filmed in 1978 in a hotel room in Cannes) together with interviews with Fassbinder’s mother Lilo and actors who performed in his films.
