Who is Joseph? Through a completely physical monologue in front of a laptop webcam, which reproduces deformed images on the large screen on the stage, a man undergoes a voyage in discovery of himself and his identity, through the representation of that identity. Making use of simple but effective video effects, Joseph’s image is doubled, distorted and modified on the large screen, in front of a young audience which is also ‘captured’ by the webcam and incorporated in the representation, becoming both witness and Greek chorus of the metamorphosis that is taking place. After a serious and rigorous beginning, Joseph begins interacting with his double, bringing to life a sort of virtual Far West duel with himself, until nearly all human form is lost, in front of the participating and amused audience. A performance revolving around the concept of transformation, urging the young audience to reflect, with an invitation to discover the infinite potential of new technologies from a creative and no longer alienating point of view.
After Joseph, the first solo work by Alessandro Sciarroni, presented in 2011 and performed with great success in a dozen contemporary dance and theatre festivals all over Europe, the choreographer, director and performer once again reflects on the mechanisms of scenic creation, using the same themes and adapting them for a much younger audience. The performance is aimed at an audience aged from 5 to 10 years old.
Alessandro Sciarroni won “Nuove Sensibilità” award in 2008, with the performance If I was Madonna. In June 2012 he received the award as “Best emerging artist” from the magazine Danza&Danza. Since 2009 he has been a member of the teaching staff at the Scuola di Teatro of the Teatro Stabile delle Marche in Ancona.
