Talk and presentation of the artist’s book

A talk with amazing guests in order to present the book of the artist Jacopo Miliani, published by Viaindustriae publishing; a book that was conceived from the research done for the film La Discoteca. The book contains a precious selection of flyers, ephemera and posters that show us the scene of the Italian LGBT + nightclubs from the seventies to the 2000s.  A collection of materials and items that highlights how nightclubs can become places where exchange, transformation, and relationships, as well as important social and political actions, can happen.  The actress Eva Robin’s, Pietro Turano (actor in the acclaimed Skam Italia series), the performer Kenjii Benjii, the curators Elisa Del Prete and Silvia Litardi, and the other protagonists who participated in the project will be at the meeting together with Jacopo Miliani.

This publication is the result of collaboration with the “Flavia Madaschi” Documentation Center of the Cassero LGBTI + Center, the Luca Lucati Luciani Archive and the magazine Babilonia.

Jacopo Miliani is a visual artist born in Florence who studied at the DAMS (Drama, Arts and Music Studies Department) in Bologna and at the Central Saint Martins College in London. His works are characterized by the use of interdisciplinary techniques and languages that have been featured on different media: from performance art to drawing and from videos to writing. His research focuses on issues related to identity, performativity, the queer universe, the relationship between verbal language and the expressiveness of the body. His works have been presented in galleries and museums in Italy and abroad.
