Per soli uomini – il maschilismo dei dati
Presentation of the book by Emanuela Griglié and Guido Romeo and conversation with Valentina Bazzarin
Data is not neutral, but the result of a cultural choice. Starting from their work as journalists, Emanuela Griglié and Guido Romeo, published an essay with codice edizioni that emphasizes the sexism that rules the world of information and data. Whether we talk about pharmaceutical products, which are mainly designed for and tested on males, or space projects that were canceled due to the lack of female suits, numbers show the issues of representation that prevent gender equality. The event will address six different topics that include healthcare, design, new technologies, urban planning, research and information, in order to describe and think about the world that surrounds us in a more equitable way.
Emanuela Griglié writes about digital culture and gender issues for the journal La Stampa. You can find her on Twitterat @emgriglie. Guido Romeo writes for the journal Il Sole 24 Ore about economics and innovation. He is co-author of Silenzi di Stato (Chiarelettere, 2016). You can find him on Twitter at @guidoromeo.
