PERFORMING GENDER: FINGERPRINTS
In October 2013, the European project Performing Gender invited four artists to Bologna – Juanjo Arques, Riccardo Buscarini, Vlasta Delimar and Cristina Henriquez – for an intense week of research into the representation of sexual orientation and gender roles through contemporary dance.
Luca Di Sciullo, Viola Niccolai, Lisa Passaniti and Cristina Portolano, four young illustrators chosen by Performing Gender in collaboration with Hamelin Associazione Culturale, documented the activities that took place during that week, following the performers closely. In a kind of dowry they have produced four albums of sketches and designs that together make up a collective diary, filled with many portraits and small tales.
One year later, as the four performers come back to Bologna to perform their final creations on stage, Gender Bender, together with BilBolBul, dedicate a special event to the project, which brings together the two festivals. In exhibition, as well as the original designs from 2013, some new sketches created especially for the exhibition itself. Elisa D’Errico’s beautiful photos and the video-story created by Enrico Galli and Fabio Fiandrini complete the panoramic view on this completely out of the ordinary artistic experience.
Opening: Wednesday 29th October at 6.30 pm
The exhibition will run from 30th October to 22nd November with the following opening times:
from Tuesday to Saturday: 10-13 and 16-19.30
