Bennett Wallace Gwizdalski is a 19-year-old transgender person who tries to leave his problematic adolescence behind him, in order to follow his dreams of becoming a musician. The documentary tells of the difficult four year period of transition from female to male, his mother, Suzy’s inability to understand him, and his friendship with his idol and mentor, Joe Stevens, transgender folk singer. Not just the story of a girl who becomes a boy, but the tale – poignant and heartfelt – of the conquest of maturity by a teenager in search of her voice as a man, a child and an artist. Best Documentary at the Giffoni Film Festival 2016.
