Valentina Mira’s book presentation and conversation with Gloria Baldoni
A courageous debut work that becomes a statement of complaint. Years after a rape that she had never reported, Valentina Mira decides to tell her story in a novel published by Fandango: a letter to her brother who did not believe her and with whom she no longer speaks. As a reaction, Valentina takes back her own story and breaks the silence to overturn the shame, the taboo and the stigma in an act of reappropriation. This is the story of a woman who decided to leave guilt behind by describing systemic violence against the female body in a book-letter that has a great literary power.
Valentina Mira (Rome 1991) graduated in Law. She worked as a delivery rider, worked at a call center and as a waitress while writing for various newspapers and websites, including il Manifesto and Corriere della Sera. Between 2017 and 2018 she edited the cultural page of Il Romanista. X is her first book.
