Lara Russo

Lara Russo, born in 1982 in Milan, moved to Barcelona in 2001 for five years where she attended photography school. There she began a dance improvisation program with her teacher Mercedes Boronat and a Butoh training with Andres Corchero. Later, in 2005, she moved to Berlin to start at the Balance1 dance academy. He developed the Einzelduett project with musician Simon Breth, an improvised duet between a dancer and a cellist. She has also collaborated with Mikel Aristegui, Catherine Umbdenstock and Poyraz Türkäy as an assistant.
In 2011 she returned to Italy where she founded his choreographic research in Bologna. In 2012 she started a collaboration with Leggere Strutture Art Factory as a teacher and choreographer. She was then selected by the IFA Academy for a three-month residency at Inteatro Polverigi. In 2013 she won the award for young Italian choreographer G’da, with the piece Alluminio, developed together with Alessia Lovreglio.
During this period she also assists choreographer Virgilio Sieni at the Venice Biennale, for the piece “Mothers and Sons” and “Agora’ tutti.” In 2014, she won the Audience Award at the Danze’ Oriente Occidente Festival in Rovereto with the performance Legame. In 2015, he won the Dna Appunti Coreografici prize at the Romaeuropa festival with “Seeking Courage/Protecting Innocence,” which he presented at the 2016 Venice Biennale. He is currently an internal lecturer at Art Factory International – Professional Program, directed by Brigel Gjoka.
