What transformative effects can arts have? Giulia Allegrini’s latest book explores dialogic practices in particular: artistic and participatory practices that use language and conversation as creative tools. The research draws on a concrete case study involving citizens from nine European cities, including Bologna: the project Performing Gender – Dancing in Your Shoes, led by Gender Bender between 2020 and 2023. Bringing together and weaving the voices of participants and partners, the book explores the role of the body and embodied experience in participatory artistic practices, as well as the relationship between mediation and power at play in group dialogue.
