The Pythia Talks. Meeting with writer Liv Strömquist

Presentation of the new book by Liv Strömquist

1 appointment

New event by Aspettando Gender Bender, the series of meetings with authors in anticipation of the 23rd edition of the festival.

Liv Strömquist is one of Sweden’s best-known cartoonists and is also a popular radio DJ and an activist working on feminist issues and reception policies.

A year after her last tour of Italy, Liv Strömquist, returns with The Pythia speaks to you, a comic book essay on self-help. With her sharp humor and lucid analysis, Liv Strömquist shows how our need for control and performance at all costs does not allow us to really live well.

From the Oracle of Delphi to Ronald Reagan’s personal astrologer, history is full of people who call on “experts” to optimize various aspects of their lives. The Internet is teeming with consultants with millions of followers ready to advise us on everything.
We live in a society that pushes us more and more to improve our mental and physical health in order to survive longer and longer, but still gives us no answer to the question of WHY we should continue to thrive on this planet. At a moment where we are bombarded with “expert advice” and words like self-care, glow up and positivity, Pythia speaks to you and says: “Give yourself a break.”

In conversation with Cristina Portolano, with translation by Samanta K. Milton Knowles.
