CANE was founded in 2004 as a variable artistic company that works on representation by adopting different formats from time to time (DJ sets, performances, staging, concerts, sound actions, etc.). It is co-founded by Daniela Cattivelli (performer, sound artist, composer) and Federica Santoro (actress, director, performer).
 
Daniela Cattivelli is a sound artist, composer of electroacoustic music performer, based in Bologna. She began as a saxophonist, training herself through heterogeneous musical experiences: from industrial music to contemporary cultured music, from improvised music to stage music. He has collaborated and played with well-known musicians from the international experimental scene and has also composed music for theater and dance, for the most representative Italian research companies: Michele di Stefano/mk, Fabrizio Favale Le Supplici, Daniele Albanese, Simona Bertozzi, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, Teatro Valdoca, Laminarie, Kinkaleri and for international artists including choreographers William Forsythe (for the German Pavilion at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale), Yoko Higashino-Baby-Q, Raquel Silva. She combines artistic activity with teaching.
She has been teaching the Sound design course at the Academies of Fine Arts in Bologna and Carrara and Interpretation and Performance of Electroacoustic Music at the Conservatory of Bologna. She currently teaching at the electronic music school of the Conservatory of Avellino. Since 2012 he has established a close collaboration with TEMPO REALE, the music research and production center founded in Florence by composer Luciano Berio.
Federica Santoro is a director, interpreter, performer, based in Rome. She collaborates as an actress with directors and playwrights in the contemporary field, including Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, Lucia Calamaro, Societas Raffaello Sanzio, Alfonso Santagata and others. In many creations she has worked and actively engaged with musicians from the experimental area, whose research also extends to the performance field: Luca Venitucci, Mike Cooper, Tim Hodgkinson, Fabrizio Spera, Luca Tilli (with whom she has collaborated in several shows since 2010) and Sebi Tramontana. He has co-directed and performed two shows with Filippo Timi. She won the Ubu Award in 2012 as best supporting actress for Lucia Calamaro’s L’origine del Mondo.
