Clinic Orgasm Society
Founded in 2001 in Bruxelles almost by chance, the Clinic Orgasm Society is a multidisciplinary art group. Each project, under the guidance and direction of Ludovic Barth and/or Mathylde Demarez, is conceived by a small and variable core of artists.
The Clinic Orgasm Society does not see itself as a theater company, but rather as a virtual site of experimentation, a laboratory whose researchers attempt to revive stage acts conceived as monstrous creatures and deliberately poorly stitched together, further pushing the hybridization of performance, theater and technological DIY.
Ludovic Barth, after completing his studies in stage design at ENSAV La Cambre, then in directing at I.N.S.A.S. in Brussels has worked notably as assistant director for Michel Dezoteux, Isabelle Pousseur and Marcel Delval. In 2000, he founded with Harold Henning and Blaise Ludik the Clinic Orgasm Society, which she has co-directed with Mathylde Demarez since 2003. He also works as a performer for the Swiss company Jours Tranquilles, directed by Fabrice Gorgerat (Les 81 minutes de Mlle A. by Lothar Trölle, 2000; He also collaborated with the “TOC Group” (Tina Pools’ 24 Hours in Search of Happiness by Marie Henry, m.e.s. Mélanie Zucconi, 2006). In 2011 she staged “VHS,” a multimedia show with pop-rock group Flexa Lyndo, Vj Sam* and dancers from Namur Break Sensation.
Mathylde Demarez, graduated at I.N.S.A.S. in 1998, divides her work between France, where she plays for the Escouade troupe, and Belgium, where she plays in particular for Didier Payen and Isabelle Marcellin (The Single Circus, 2001), Marcel Delval (No one sees Martin Crimp’s video, 2002), Mathias Gokalp (MI-temps, short film, 2002), and for Rasmus Ölme & Max Cuccaro (The Art of Escape, Ultima Vez, 2003). She also collaborates with the Swiss company Jours Tranquilles (Du talent pour le Bonheur, 2002; Judith, 2004; To be or to be, 2005; Protestant!, 2006). She joined the Clinic Orgasm Society in 2003, which she co-directs with Ludovic Barth. She also collaborates with the TOC Group (Tina Pools’ 24 Hours in Search of Happiness by Marie Henry, m.e.s. Mélanie Zucconi, 2006). In 2010, she played the lead female role in the feature film In Their Lives by Géraldine Davoine.
