Giulio D’Anna

Giulio D’Anna graduated in Dance and Choreography from the University of Amsterdam’ School for New Dance Development (SNDO). He receives a degree from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and AID&A certificates for teaching Jazz’ Classical and Contemporary Dance. Alongside his dance training he follows studies in Naturopathy and Theta Healing. As a choreographer he is interested in the fusion of different theatrical languages with “dramatic bodies” in pursuit of virtuoso unconventional bodies. Giulio D’Anna’s biography is full of extraordinary episodes and facts. From his discovery of dance very young undertaken to defeat a form of scoliosis’ to his training in Amsterdam to his return to Italy’ his marriage and adoption of a child’ all with his father Stefano always by his side’ with whom he created the show “Parkin’son.”
He works regularly as an independent choreographer’ dancer’ physical actor and teacher. In recent years his works have been presented in Spain, Italy, Holland and Germany. During his third and fourth university years’ he was selected for two consecutive years in the showcase of new young European choreographers for the ITs Festival (International Theaterschool Festival). At the moment Giulio is busy with the international tour of “Parkin’son”’ a project that won the 2011 Equilibrio Prize and the Dioraphte Prize at the closing of the Nederlandse Dansdagen and is working on the creation of the new 2012 production “Giambologna 2012” produced by the production company Dansateliers in Rotterdam. Giulio D’Anna is part of “Matilde. Regional platform for the new Marche scene.” A project of Regione Marche and AMAT.
