La Macana
La Macana is a Spanish dance company of Galicia‚ founded in 2009 by the creators and performers Catherine Varela and Alexis Fernandez. Their first work‚ the duet VEN has been awarded on several occasions‚ enjoying great approval in the international networks‚ and has been presented in more than 20 countries. Since then‚ they have worked on their productions SHURE PG48‚ TITLE‚ NOT YET SOMETIMES‚ the latter co-produced by the National Choreographic Centre Roubaix (France).
They have collaborated with many artists includin EMBER in COLA DE GALLO‚ with Galician companies such as PISANDO OVOS‚ SÓLODOS‚ QUIQUE PEÓN CIA for the project SEISdeCATRO‚ or UNUSUAL SYMPTOMS‚ in collaboration with Julio César Iglesias for the piece DROWN THE ROAD. In addition to their creative work‚ La Macana is dedicated to teaching in different international centers. Ven is a creation that has won the first prize of the critics and the audience at the Contest Choreographic of Madrid (2008) and was chosen for Aerowaves 2010. After its premiere in Havana in March 2008‚ this work has been featured in festivals around the world.
