Masako Matsushita
Masako Matsushita, born in 1986, is an Italian-Japanese choreographer and dancer. She earned her BA (Hons) Dance Theatre at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music&Dance in London (UK) in 2012, receiving the Simone Michelle Award. She has presented works of her own and in collaboration with other artists for national and international festivals and has been artist-in-residence at RU-Residency Unlimited NYC, Erkki Hirvela Atelier Fi, CSC Garage Nardini, AMAT Experimental Theater, and, with the duo Curandi Katz, Centrale Fies. She is one of the founders of 4bid Gallery Amsterdam.
As a performer she has worked for Sivan Rubinstein, Curandi Katz, Ingvild Isaksen, Janne Camille Lyester, Olimpia Fortuni, Ariella Vidach, Josiah McElheny, Matteo Fargion, Susan Sentler, Elisabetta Consonni.
In 2018 she created the choreography L.I.N.E.A. for the National Academy of Dance in Rome part of the Resid’AND project. The work LAND SKAP in collaboration with I.Isaksen is a Sånafest Festival production with the support of the DE.MO./Movin’UP II session 2016 project by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and GAI – Association for the Circuit of Young Italian Artists. Winner of the 2018 Perspective Dance Prize. Since 2019, he has been part of two European projects such as Dancing Museum – the democracy of being with the following partners La Briqueterie CDCN du Val-de-Marne – MAC VAL Musée d’art contemporain (FR), Arte Sella (IT), Fondazione Fitzcarraldo (IT), Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia (IT), Tanec Praha (CZ), Dance 4 (UK), Stichting Dansateliers (NL), Mercat de les Flors (ES), Bundeskunsthalle (DE) and Museum of Human E-motion together with la Briqueterie CDCN du Val-De-Marne Paris, Saison Foundation Japan, National Kaohsiung Centre for the Arts Taiwan; whose Italian representative partner for both projects is Centro per la Scena Contemporanea of the City of Bassano del Grappa.
