Mor Shani
Mor Shani (Israel, 1985) graduated from the ArtEZ Dance academy in Arnhem in 2009. Since 2010, Shani has been a resident choreographer with Dansateliers Rotterdam. In this context he created the piece Flatland (2011), selected to the European Aerowaves network as one of the best young makers’ creations, and Gravity and Grace (2013). In 2012-2013 he started the immersive project Love-ism together with filmmaker Paul Sixta. During the project is a long term research on the human experience of intimacy inspired by the boek “The Art of Loving” by Erich Fromm. During the project Shani and Sixta worked with different professionals on a series of duets in various constellations. Parallel to this process they organised open workshops to be able to dialogue and interact with a community of non-professionals (kids and adults) and feed the creative process. The material, encounters and interviews resulted in an evening length performance, a series of duets and the film Love-ism | Things That Matter.
Since 2015 Mor is living and working in Tel Aviv, Israel. Here he is resident choreographer at the Suzanne Dellal Centre. In 2016 he traveled back to Rotterdam for a short term residency dedicated to the project Jerusalem.
