Thomas Lebrun
Thomas Lebrun, french dancer and choreographer, has worked as a dancer with Bernard Glandier, Daniel Larrieu, Christine Bastin, Christine Jouve and also Pascal Montroug. In 1998 he founded his own company, the Illico Company. From 2002 to 2004 he collaborated with Vivat d’Armentières and from 2005 to 2011 with Danse à Lille / Centre de Développement Chorégraphique. He has created choreography for foreign groups such as the Chinese National Ballet in Laionning and Grupo Tapis in Brazil. The only artist selected for the 2009 edition of FranceDance in Vilnius’ he participated with a choreography danced by Lithuanian Loreta Juodkaité. He teaches contemporary dance in major European training centers including French National Dance Centers in Pantin and Lyon’ the Port Balletéatro.
In July 2010, her new solo “Parfois le corps n’a pas de coeur” was her response to the Festival d’Avignon and SACD’s “Sujets à vif” commission. In March 2017, he directed Jean-Philippe Rameau’s “Les Fêtes d’Hébé” for the Paris Opera Academy, performed at the Bastille Opera Auditorium in Paris and the Britten Theatre in London. In 2023 he created “Les Pêcheurs de perles,” an opera in 3 acts for the Capitole in Toulouse. Since his arrival at the National Dance Centers in Pantin, he has created 16 new choreographies exhibited in more than 800 events in France (Théâtre national de Chaillot, Biennale de la danse de Lyon, Festival d’Avignon…) and in other countries (England, Belgium, Brazil, Canada , China, Croatia, Ecuador, Finland, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Netherlands, Peru, Russia, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan…).
In June 2014, Thomas Lebrun received the award for choreography from the Board of Directors of the SACD (Société des auteurs chorégraphiques et dramatiques), and in March 2017, he was appointed Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the government of France. In June 2023, he received the “Grand Prix” for the best choreographic performance of the year 2023 for “L’envahissement de l’être (danser avec Duras),” awarded by the Syndicat professionnel de la Critique théâtre, musique et danse.
