Barbie siamo noi
A lecture-show by and with Claudio Rossi Marcelli
This event is part of Teatro Arcobaleno, a networked cultural project expressly aimed at childhood, adolescence, families and teachers to provide possible answers to the many questions that arise spontaneously today on issues of gender differences.
Claudio Rossi Marcelli reviews 60 years of habits, social issues, fashion, and pop culture through the way in which the famous Barbie doll evolved. Starting from 1959 to the present, he explains her professions during each decade, how her body was reshaped, what celebrities she was inspired by, and what controversies she raised. He does so through 80 images and a text with a light and humorous tone, in which he nevertheless addresses fundamental issues such as women’s bodies, gender identity, and racism.
