FEITO PIPA (GUGU’S WORLD)
A film by Allan Deberton
Brasil, 2026, 96′
v. o. italian subtitles
Eleven-year-old Gugu is torn between the magical childhood he has spent with his grandmother Dilma and an uncertain future. He loves sequins and make-up, and is a brilliant footballer. Surrounded by his grandmother’s care and affection, he has built a safe haven from the hardships of the outside world. But when her health begins to deteriorate, Gugu must also face the complex journey of reconciling with his father. Winner of the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale and the Maguey Awards for Best Film and Best Performance, shared by Yuri Gomes and Teca Pereira, Allan Deberton’s latest queer film is a tender yet powerful exploration of what it means to grow up and find yourself.
