The 42nd Street in Santo Domingo’s Capotillo neighborhood—historically one of the most dangerous in the Dominican Republic—is now undergoing a genuine grassroots cultural renaissance that is inspiring both local and international artists.

Through this documentary, which immerses viewers in the dances and rhythms of Dembow music, José María Cabral explores the complex intersection of social issues—such as drug trafficking and gang violence—and the creative resilience of artists who continue to choose this path as a means of expression and of sharing their art, contributing to the construction of both personal and collective identity.
