Lonesome
A film by Craig Boreham
(Australia, 2021, 95 min.)
Casey, a lonely country boy trying to escape a small-town scandal, sets out for Sydney. In one of several casual sex dates using a dating app, he meets Tib, a charming young black boy who is the son of a migrant woman who has been banished from her country. Casey realizes that he has much in common with him and they establish a deep physical and emotional connection. Lonesome is a heartbreaking queer love story with hedonistic and erotic elements that tenderly and thoroughly explores the topic of desire and presents an explicit and insightful portrait of gay relationships and dating in our contemporary world.
