In Ode, Elena Antoniou explores the essence of feminine power. On stage with musician Anna Papathanasiou, she establishes a connection with the audience through her gaze – erotic, intense and liberating. The two performers initially stand back to back, shielding themselves from one another, before gradually coming into contact. Their presence on stage becomes a radical and political act of closeness and mutual support. Choosing not to remain silent with one’s body, and claiming the sound it can make in space and time, becomes an invitation extended to the audience as well. Breaking the silence to assert one’s presence. Moving through space without fear.
