CORPI FUORI TRACCIA
Inauguration of Jacopo Camagni‘s exhibition
Interventions of: Sara Manfredi, Luca De Santis, Andrea Accardi

Jacopo Camagni was a queer artist, and throughout his life, drawing served as a tool for asserting his identity and taking a stand—for stepping outside the boundaries of the people he portrayed and changing the way bodies are represented, starting with their uniqueness. His work was also—if not above all—political.
From his early days to his professional maturity, from the panels he created for major mainstream comics to his personal and activist works, Corpi Fuori Traccia chronicles this journey, tracing the evolution of a style that changes alongside the artist who creates it. The starting point is when Jacopo began to devote himself to drawing while simultaneously discovering his queer identity. These are two experiences that, in his story, soon became intertwined.
From his very first drawings—which adorned posters and flyers in Bologna’s nightlife scene—one can discern the themes that have animated his art: depictions of physicality, desire, and the search for a form in which to recognize oneself. His punk-inspired approach to engaging with the world of classic Italian comics, queer aesthetics, underground culture, and alternative realities have been central to his personal artistic language. From superheroes to independent productions, her bodies have served as a space in which to challenge models and roles, even in works tied to her political activism and her involvement in the LGBT and anti-fascist activist movements. A common thread that unites her thirty-year career: an idea of revolution that flows through bodies.

Bio
Jacopo Camagni (December 21, 1977) has been a prominent figure in the Italian and international comic book scene for nearly thirty years. He made his debut in 1998 in *Mondo Naif* (*Kappa Boys*) and in 2003 contributed to *Lupin III Millennium*. In 2008, he won the ChesterQuest award at New York Comic Con and joined Marvel, working on iconic titles such as S.W.O.R.D., Captain Marvel, X-Men: Red, Deadpool, Scarlet Witch, and Marvel’s Voices: Pride. With Sergio Bonelli Editore, he worked on Dylan Dog Color Fest and co-created the Simulacri series. Among his authorial projects, the sagas *Nomen Omen* (2017–2019) and *Arcadia* (2020–2024), created with Marco B. Bucci, stand out. In Bologna, his art intersects with activism: in 2014, he founded *La Gilda* at the Cassero LGBTQIA+ Center, using role-playing games to promote queer rights and visibility. In his X-Men, in his Scarlet Witch, and in his stories, there is one constant: the narrative of those who exist outside the norm, and who, from that position, build their own strength and their own struggle. Jacopo set sail on March 1, 2026, to go beyond the waking world, but his art continues to inspire us to dream. This exhibition is dedicated to him.
