Adriano Bolognino
Born in 1995 in Naples, Adriano Bolognino is a freelance choreographe. His work is supported by prominent organisations such as the Orsolina28 Art Foundation and Körper – Italian National Center of Dance Production. His latest piece, “Ravel / Into Us – Bruciare” has just been shortlisted for the prestigious international Fedora Dance Prize 2025.
In 2021, his piece “Your Body is a Battleground”, which was commissioned by the Venice Biennale theprevious year, was selected by Italia dei Visionari and Campania Teatro Festival. Another piece, “Rua da Saudade”, won the “Call for Creations” 2021 by Orsolina28 and the Cortoindanza 2021 prize. After, his work was also selected for NID Platform 21, DNA Appunti Coreografici 2021, Twain Direzioni Altre 2021, Certamen Coreografico de Sabadell 2021, and premiered at the Torino Danza Festival in 2022. His piece “Gli Amanti” was selected by the European Dance Network “Aerowaves” and the Italian network Anticorpi XL in 2021. In 2022, he was honoured with the Danza&Danza Award as an emerging choreographer.
In 2022, his creation “Come Neve”, commissioned by Nitja Senter of Oslo in co-production with Orsolina28, the Italian Embassy in Norway and the Italian Institute of Culture in Oslo, was selected by KommTanz and “Danza Urbana/Anticorpi XL” in 2023.
In the 2023/24 season, he created “Samia”, which won the “Rüm for dans”
co-production call and debuted in Sweden in October 2023, in collaborationwith Orsolina28, IIC Colonia, Staatstheater Darmstadt/ Hessisches Staatsballett, and Körper. In 2023 he was also selected for the network “Crossing the Sea” and for the “Big Pulse Visiting Artists” project in collaboration with the Biennale de la Danse Lyon. Notably, his work “White Room” for Compagnia Opus Ballet in collaboration with Compagnia Virgilio Sieni and the extract duet “Behind you” were recognised at the MASDANZA Choreographic Competition, winning both the Audience Award and the Canary Islands Tour Award.
Over the years, Bolognino has won multiple awards and has participated in various prestigious festivals and platforms. Bolognino’s collaborations extend to special events such as the Laura Biagiotti Fashion Show 2023 in Milan, where he worked with étoile dancers Eleonora Abbagnato and Jacopo Tissi at the Piccolo Teatro Milano for Laura Biagiotti FallWinter23, and for Ferrari Cavalcade23 as a soloist for Eleonora Abbagnato. In addition to his choreographic work, Bolognino is passionate about professional training and collaborates with international organisations like Agorà Coaching Project, DAF Dance Faculty, Kayzer Ballet, Artemente, Vivo Center and EDA ACT. His journey in contemporary dance is marked by continuous learning and collaboration, aiming to contribute positively to the field.
