Calixto Neto
Calixto Neto Calixto Neto is originally from Recife, Brazil, and living in France since 2013. He studied theater at the Federal University of Pernambuco, then dance at the Groupe Experimental de Danse before taking the master’s degree in choreography ex.e.r.ce, at the CCN of Montpellier. During his course, he created the solo Petites Explosions as well as the duet Pipoca, with Bruno Freire. Between 2013 and 2015 he created the solo Petites Explosions and the duet Pipoca, with Bruno Freire.
In 2018, he was resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts to create his second solo, oh!rage, born from his interest in “peripheral” dances, on the fringe of institutional circuits. Member of Lia Rodrigues’ company from 2007 to 2013, Calixto Neto is also a performer in the creations of Anne Collod, Mette Ingvartsen, Ève Magot or Luiz de Abreu. In 2020, he directed the films O Samba do Crioulo Doido: Rule and Compass and Pro Futuro Quilombo. In 2021 he creates Outrar in collaboration with Lia Rodrigues and Feijoada, his first group piece.
