Joana is hit by a car while riding her bike. From inside the car, a young boy, Maicon, filmed everything while his mother was driving. The event triggers a series of unexpected reactions and bonds between Joana, her partner Cecilia, and the family responsible for the accident. Starting from an autobiographical experience, Bruno Carboni’s first feature film uses the fortuitous intertwining of two lives to explore the possibilities for change generated by empathy. As a side topic, the deconstruction of class differences to allow free exploration of one’s identity.

Bruno Carboni is the author of more than 20 short films and several feature films such as Castanha by Davi Pretto (64th Berlinale Forum) and Beira-Mar by Filipe Matzembacher & Marcio Reolon (65th Berlinale Forum). He co-directed two short films, Waiting Room (2009) with Davi Pretto and Garry (2012) with Richard Tavares. O Teto Sobre nós (The Roof Above Us) was his first solo short film and had its world premiere at the 68th Locarno Film Festival – Concorso Pardi di futuro. In 2016 he was selected at the Berlinale Talents.
